Use Silicone for extreme weather conditions, vacation homes or when your pool will be shut down for longer periods of time.

If this is a new installation and the water in your pool has not reached the skimmers operating level yet, or you have lowered your water level to install your new SkimSaver Lid’ Seal, then follow the directions here. Apply household all-weather silicone sealant like the top picture on the right, fill the groove on your SkimSaver faceplate with a medium size bead all the way around the faceplate. Now just simply snap-in the winterizing lid, remove any access silicone that comes out after applying pressure to the lid, like the picture in the middle.

If your pool is already filled to the operating level of your skimmer and your ready to apply silicone, then simply apply a medium size bead (about 1/4" diameter) to the lids skirt only. Turn the lid up-side down like the image on the bottom right and apply silicone along the bottom edge of the skirt all the way around. Now just simply snap-in the winterizing lid, remove any access silicone that comes out after applying pressure to the lid, like the picture in the middle.
